Review of the innovative modular design of the Framework laptop

The Framework laptop is reshaping how we think about personal computing. Its modular design allows for unprecedented upgradeability and repairability, extending the device's lifespan and reducing waste.

As a PC enthusiast, I've been chasing the dream of a fully-customizable and upgradeable laptop for years. The only laptop that came close before the Framework were the Thinkpad T420, T430 and T440p. They are still some of the best laptops out there. I personally used a T440p for about 3 years before I had to give it away to a friend who was in dire need of a computer.

Now that the Framework is here, you would think that my search is over. It is, but not in the way you might expect. You see, I have given up on the idea of a fully-upgradeable laptop, not because the idea is not cool, but because the Apple Silicon Macbook Pros exist. I hate myself for saying this, but they are the best laptops out there. Especially the battery life, nothing else comes close.

The Framework is a great laptop, and they are doing God's work by making laptops that are repairable and upgradeable and can be repurposed once they reach end-of-life. Apple is the exact opposite. And yet, if I were to buy a laptop today, I would buy a Macbook.
